As soon as you start thinking of setting up your Home Surveillance you realize that the Camera, however important, is only one element of a system. What then is the system camera should I choose?
As in many other fields of human activity, the answer unfortunately is always the same. "It depends …" But this answer gives you the freedom of choice and the ability to customize your choice, making it the most suited to your unique circumstances.
System allows only easier to monitor camera views in real time (ie without recording). This system is adequate to control the door (or any other place fixed), for monitoring the sleep of a baby in a crib or play of the boys in the yard (if not short of view …).
Whenever the real-time monitoring is not sufficient for monitoring, you should choose suitable monitor and recorder. For the examination of movies recorded on tape in the premises, ie when there is no need to see at a distance, technology based analog of a type available to tape is adequate.
Recorder tape will be suitable if the time available between changes cassettes (two to four hours) is sufficient to meet your needs. Otherwise special time-lapse recorders can be obtained which retain tape sampling images at pre-selected intervals.
The system becomes more complex if more than one camera transmits images to monitor and recorder. In this case one of two solutions is available. Or you can enjoy in sequence (using an automatic switcher) every camera, at its time or, using a multiplexer, we can examine more times reduced to the same monitor.
But if the images must be viewed remotely via the Internet, and technology Analog is not suitable anymore. You must switch to digital to allow manipulation of images by computer software, such as personal computers or specially designed dedicated DVR (Digital Video Recorder) hardware.

To select the most suitable room for a home monitoring system should consider the real needs and must answer the following questions as fair opportunity to narrow your search.
It is the system needed only to monitor real-time views?
It is the analog boxes video recording adequate? (No internet).
How many shots with the camera should be available?
If registration is required, will be sampling images at intervals be enough?
A multiplexer is needed to monitor at one time all the views of the camera?
Is there a need to respect the opinions remotely via the Internet?
Would you be comfortable with programming PC?
