Trains Line
Steam trains are an important part of the glorious history of Texas. When the war ended with Mexico, the government of the newly formed Republic of Texas has tried to encourage investments. Improving transportation by the construction of a rail system seemed a logical choice, and once reached a state of Texas, the railway companies began working the construction of a railway system to meet the needs of the Texas population growth.
In 1853, the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado Railway began to provide rail service between Harrisburg and Stafford, a distance of about twenty miles. This gave the company the distinction of being both the first railroad in Texas and the second railway line west of the Mississippi. Because the rail system expanded, so too the risk to passengers, the dangerous bridge that crosses the Brazos River, for example, the tenant has allowed passengers to disembark and take a ferry rather than brave crossing the bridge on board the train.
Southern Pacific Railroad agreed to begin the construction of a line running from Caddo, near San Antonio, Marshall, east of Dallas, Texas. When this road was completed in 1858, the steam locomotive intended to run the line had not yet arrived. However, in order to maintain their state paper, the Southern Pacific Railroad was imposed by a written agreement to provide service rail between these two cities. Rather than wait for the locomotive to arrive, the Southern Pacific Railroad chose to use carts pulled by oxen rail freight rails just descended.
Austin, the train system was crucial to move cargo on the Colorado River for domestic journeys. Austin, when it was named the capital of Texas, the need for rapid transport increased significantly, and the first railway in Austin has been completed by Houston and Texas Central Railway Company in 1871. This first steam railway line was the beginning of the intricate system that connected with the rest of Austin Texas and the United States.
Today, steam trains not longer grace the old railway line. But it is still possible to relive the story and the adventure of riding the rails on an old fashioned steam train. "Austin Steam Train Association offers three trips by train hours every Saturday, recreating the historical experience of traveling through rural Texas train. The original steam engine, the Pacific South of 786, was produced in New York in August 1916. While it is being restored to working conditions, the association is using a diesel engine train Alco Diesel locomotive to pull its 442 vintage cars.
The trip begins in Cedar Park, a suburb of Austin, Texas, and winds through the historic Texas Hill Country, stopping along the way to the train depot 1912 Bertram. Classic cars of the train passengers have three different levels of service, from Coach to First Class Lounge Pullman. The bus service approaching the original experience rail, but lack the modern comfort of air conditioning and heating. Of course, the windows can be opened for better ventilation and natural cooling in summer. The hike Class and First Class Lounge Pullman cars with air conditioning, heating, and other amenities for less adventurous travelers. If are interested in renting a car, the Lounge Boonesborough, Kentucky offers privacy and luxury for your special occasion.
Reservations are recommended, but usually tickets are available at the boarding area on the day of your trip as well. The Austin Steam Train Association offers drivers the opportunity to travel back in time, making history Texas come to life for railway enthusiasts and tourists.
