How to get to New York golf courses. Anyone familiar with the history of the Big Apple knows that it of a port and commercial center long before anything else. The geography of New York has also played an important role in how the city develops. In short, unlike Los Angeles – which has not even exist when New York was a bustling commercial center and port of entry – all that came later had to adjust to what was already there.
Case in point – NYC tee times are hard to find. Unlike Los Angeles, which has 144 of them, there are only 19 golf courses located in NYC five boroughs – and 18 of them are owned and operated by the City, which means that they are owned by public.
This is actually a good thing, because it means consistent Greens fees throughout the city, which is significantly lower than those in the clubs individuals to countries outside the metropolitan area. The fees for tee times at 17 golf courses in NYC are set by the NYC Parks Foundation, and are all equal.
The only exception is Moshulu Driving Range in the Bronx, which has slightly different fee structures – which are still too low for NYC residents with an annual permit (only $ 6 year for adults). This is a regulation nine-hole course, par 35, with 3253 meters. Weekend Greens fees are just two dollars more on weekends, and include the use of a golf cart, if available.
The remaining private driving range within the city and Chelsea Piers. These are real piers in Manhattan and are unusual in that they offer "Simulator Sessions" – a form of technology that was science fiction only a quarter of a century ago. Those who have seen the science fiction Outland favorite films that Sean Connery may remember Peter Boyle play virtual golf on a similar device, which was then an illusion of Hollywood. That technology is now real and available at Chelsea Piers, one of the most technologically advanced golf courses in NYC.
Simulator Play at Chelsea Piers is expensive, however: a meeting hour will cost more than a full eighteen holes of play in a traditional open-air classes nyc courses run by the NYC Parks Foundation. Tee times can be reserved for a figure of about $ 30 during the week, about $ 42 at the weekend. Seniors get to play for a bit 'more than half of that, and children under 16 can play during the week for a minimum of $ 7.50 – and get free golf lessons through the Parks Department to boot!
