What type of wood should a beginner use Carver?

I'ma Carver and I am purchasing a carving kit. What kind of wood would be better begin with, domestic or exotic?

Since the sculpture can be quite difficult with the choices. I strongly recommend that is not limited to any type of wood, simply because its soft, hard, difficult, easy or that label. More important then that is that the wood used is dry. I refer drier then firewood. Many carvers have some opinions' opposing this, but I'm sure most would agree that dry is better. If you must have the name of a part of me pine forest. I think more important then the choice of wood is the choice of instruments. I am not suggesting to you each whittling or carving tools knives because everyone has their own preferences. Instead, I point you to the defect. Vice overcutting will save your wood and even move your fingers much further away from the instruments incredibly sharp that will be used. It will also use the techniques of interception with a mallet.
