How accurate do pumps at gas stations have to be?
With gas prices to hit $ 4 a gallon, the temptation is there for the owners gas station customers short on fuel. When the gas pump says I put 5 liters in the tank, that the guards are there to make sure that I was not short a half gallon or so? I know that are subject to annual inspections by a state department of weights and measures, but how innacurate the State does allow them to be? The Operators can easily adjust the pumps to be accurate for the inspection and then set it back to customers at short?
An operator of service stations alter the pumps unless you want to be fined All pumps are special seals on them and you tamper at your peril
