Immersion Heater Tank – Why is a dome at the bottom?
I ask only because the reservoirs are dipping copper dome at the bottom? – There must be a reason valid for it?
Your hot water storage cylinder (tank water heater) is subjected to water pressure, both from the water tank cold roof if you have what is called a vent system or water mains, if you have a non-ventilated. Surface dome can withstand this pressure better a flat surface. Top of the cylinder is also for this reason the dome. If it were flat, when under pressure, it would try to distort into a dome shape. This is also the reason for large round buildings like St. Pauls Cathedral have domed roofs. Imagine what would happen to the shape of a box of calcium if you tried inflating it. (perhaps not so bad, you might give a better chance Flooded)
