Barrel Load
It can bore a short-barreled shotgun to be used for hunting squirrel?
I have a Mossberg 500 self-defense, the cylinder bore, 18.5 "to cask. I would not buy a new rifle to hunt only for my first season, and a new barrel costs the same as a new .22, I could easily use to hunt squirrels. With the right load, I could use this weapon for hunting squirrel, or am I better to find a rifle longer barrel with interchangeable chokes?
I would suggest that get another shotgun or at least buy a new barrel. As a trader and a dealer I can tell you that your Mossberg shotgun cylinder is designed primarily Slugs for striped # 00 Buckshot. It would not work as an effective squirrel gun unless they were very, very close. The Mossberg 500 is a versatile real gun and you might easy and cheap to buy an extra barrel that would fit for hunting squirrel. Mossberg barrels run about ($ 60 at Wal-Mart) and I doubt you could get 0.22 a decent price for that cheap. If you bought a barrel change you could use it for hunting other animals, rabbits, pheasants, quail and squirrels. If you do not want to spend the extra money, I would tell you to follow his own idea and try to find another shotgun barrel with a modified or adjustable throttle to take borrow or purchase for your use. In both cases, it would be more successful with another barrel of the gun or at all. Good luck!
